about PIUS macIsaac

Posted on August 29th, 2013 by webadmin

PhotoPIUS MacIsaac, a son of Mabou, was inspired as a boy by the vivid musical culture of local Cape Breton players. At 13 with his own hard-earned guitar he began chording to his father's fiddling. He is now a gifted composer writing for fiddle, mandolin and guitar. Pius is a role model for those with disabilities, surpassing his own limits by sheer creative determination.

Pius can be seen accompanying many of the island's top fiddlers with his driving, percussive guitar rhythms. Pius has taken the stage with top-notch players such as Dave MacIsaac, Gordie Sampson, Scott Macmillian, and Brian Doyle. He also performs regularly at local festivals and parish hall dances as well as venues across Canada often entertaining the crowd at ceilidhs with his nephew Ian MacDougall.
